Checkpoint marks Conrad’s unsolved murder two years ago

RCMP Kings, along with Southwest Nova Major Crime members and Annapolis Valley Traffic, will conduct an information checkpoint this Friday, November 21 from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Melanson Mountain Road area near Wolfville.

Their goal is to increase awareness of the ongoing homicide investigation into the murder of Leslie Ann Conrad.

A handout will be provided to motorists which will explain what investigators are looking for.

Conrad, aged 45 at the time, was last seen near her residence in Lower Wolfville Thursday, October 5, 2006 and was reported missing to Kings RCMP October 6, 2006.

An extensive search for Conrad was conducted over the next several weeks and, November 22, 2006, human remains positively identified as Conrad were located off Robinson Corner, Melanson, approximately eight kilometres from her residence.

Anyone with information concerning this investigation isasked to contact the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit, 902-679-5561; or NS Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-TIPS ( 8477). The Nova Scotia Department of Justice is offering cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for specified major unsolved crimes.
